Common in winter, spring, and fall; uncommon in summer. Our smallest falcon (10 1/2 inches long) nests in cavities in any open or semi-open habitat such as forest clearings to farmland to desert. The male's wing coverts are blue-gray whereas the female's wing coverts are russet. © LgPacker
