Canyon Towhee

Rains are not necessary for nesting, but peaks of nesting periods, spring and late summer or fall, follow winter and summer rains, respectively. The towhees' bimodal nesting season correlates with the bimodal (winter-summer) rain pattern of desert-type habitat allowing them to take advantage of high insect populations after it rains for feeding young. © LgPacker
