Great Blue Heron Rookery

John and I went back to the San Angelo rookery the latter part of March and did some more observations. Herons normally fly with their necks tucked into an "S" shape except during courtship and pair bonding. This male's extended neck indicates he's impressing his mate. Reminds me of how guys straighten their posture and suck in the stomach to impress the girls. (c)JAEnglish
