Eighty percent of quail live less than a year. Hatch year young live 6 to 9 months. Females will renest with a different male if hubby No. 1 agrees to incubate the eggs. A clutch consists of 12 to 14 eggs (sometimes 7 to 28). More males (60%) survive than females (40%). And the highest density of quail is found after a rainy spring/summer. So watch out Big Country, there may be a bumper crop of quail this fall. © LgPacker
