American White Pelican

Pelicans feed by dipping their large beaks in the water. They eat primarily "rough" fish of little value to humans. Several pelicans will swim together, simultaneously dip their beaks in the water, and scoop up fish in their pouches. They do not plunge dive to catch fish. They find fish by sight or by touch.
