Cassin's Finch

While photographing the chickadee (Feb. 4, 2008), a little red bird lands atop the tree across the creek. It's a Cassin's Finch! It is a resident of mountains and conifer forests of the west. Notice the very straight culmen (shape of the top bill). © LgPacker
